We wanted to share with you a little bit more about our business practices and beliefs. If you are looking for answers to general questions about our pricing, travel policy, etc. please view our Q & A.
1. We believe that wedded bliss outweighs the importance of the wedding day. That said, we genuinely love weddings because of what they really stand for. Yes, your wedding should be awesome, but your marriage is what it’s all about!
2. We are accepting, friendly, welcoming, and non-prejudicial whether it comes to sexual orientation, race, appearance, affiliation, and so on. It actually bothers us that we even have to put this in here, but sadly not everyone works or lives under this belief. We want you to feel comfortable with us. We give you the opportunity to meet us to see if we “click” but other than that, we love you already! Your wedding is your wedding. It’s not about us, it’s about you. Are you eloping? Having a destination wedding? Having a small wedding? Going to a courthouse? Doing a huge, elaborate party? We take photos that are unique to your personality and capture your unique moments.

This was our first Thanksgiving as a married couple! For the last three years, we have done different meals each Thanksgiving and always get pie from West Seattle’s popular Shoefly Pie Co. (seriously awesome pecan pie and extremely popular on Thanksgiving)! Holidays for two can be a big change after years of big family gatherings, so because we could not go back to see our families in Arizona to celebrate, we wanted to begin implementing our own Thanksgiving traditions.
This year, we began the new tradition of each writing what we are thankful for in our marriage on a piece of paper and putting it into a bottle we saved from the centerpieces at our wedding. Once it is full, after many Thanksgivings together, we can break the container and read what the other person wrote. This is a fun way to make use of wedding decor, or simply use a jar or container and decorate it as you please. To create a container like ours, take the labels off of a wine bottle, cover with 1 coat of spray paint primer, 2-coats of ivory spray paint and add burlap, twine, lace ribbon and a button! Roll up what you’re thankful for and slip it in!

Every time we blog we spend almost as much time trying to decide how to catch the feeling and emotion of the shoot in words as we do actually picking the photos to use, and sometimes we get to a point where words just fall short. On the verge of posting a (to steal A Practical Wedding’s term) “Wordless Wedding” or photo-only post we received this amazing comment on our facebook wall from Nicole, and decided it really was the only way to express our feelings about the shoot.
“I can’t even tell you how much those pictures mean to me… after the really hard year we just had with the accident and then my cancer scare, we wanted to get some nice shots of us, because really, any day could be your last. Thank you for capturing our love and relationship exactly as it is.”
And that is why we do what we do. Thank you two, from the bottom of our hearts, for trusting us with your memories.
Man, we’ve been in the editing trenches something fierce the last three weeks, so be ready for an obnoxious amount of entries and teasers with all the goodness that’s been in front of our cameras as of late. While we take a breather today check out these shots from our October/November shoots that don’t star our fantastic clients (don’t worry…those posts are coming soon).
It’s a cold one in Seattle today, so grab some hot chocolate (Ali’s favorite thing of the moment), put on some a Capella music (Josh’s favorite thing of the moment) and enjoy.

We really can’t wait to share full posts from this past bunch of teasers. We are like little elves in a workshop editing away (we say this mostly because we are totally listening to Christmas music at home=”Ali’s Fault”), and we are loving all of these fall engagement and family shoots! We really can’t say enough how much our clients ROCK. We may start issuing prizes to the ones who make us laugh the most… it would be a close competition. Speaking of, aren’t these two adorable? They were full of cute engagement-shoot props too, so we can’t wait to share!
November has been particularly great in so many ways and we have lots of exciting things coming up on the blog, including more personal posts so you can get to know us better, and some details about what makes JayLee so AWESOME (according to us and our clients). Thanks to all of our recent visitors to the site (old and new). If we haven’t grabbed coffee yet this season, let’s! (Ali has a strange interest in this whole “red cup” thing because apparently it “means it’s Christmas”)!
