Lindsay + Mark | Bainbridge Island Wedding
It was the perfect overcast day on Bainbridge Island with two extraordinarily accomplished people.
One of our favorite things about weddings is seeing family and friends from two families joining to celebrate, and this group was nothing short of awesome. We especially loved the unique toasts, including a surprise song (La Vie en Rose) in both English and French, and the traditional Hawaiian banzai toast. The literal translation of banzai is 10,000 years (of life). The toast-givers first shout out "Shinro shimpu, banzai (long life and happiness to the bride and groom)". Then, the guests participate by responding "banzai." This continues a few times to honor both the couple and the guests before everyone toasts. It was such a cool thing to witness!

Danielle and Tyler… where to begin? Danielle is the first great friend I made in Seattle and remains one of my very closest friends to date. When she met Tyler, things just “clicked”… I watched her life fall into place. I witnessed them fall in love. What an amazing thing that is. Now, it’s hard to think of a time when they weren’t together. They are so shockingly alike, so incredibly in-sync, and light each other up in a way that I think shows really clearly in their wedding photos. Josh and I had the pleasure of spending a few days with Danielle, Tyler, and their families at the lovely Seacliff Gardens. We were instantly treated like one of the family. This was an intimate wedding with so much genuine personality and so much love. Some of our favorite (ever) wedding-formal pictures that we have taken were truly the result of shooting when the light was right… a great example of “the golden hour” at its best. Not to mention, Danielle and Tyler were so in-the-moment and happy it was infectious. We love you guys! Thank you for trusting us to capture your day and inviting us to celebrate with you. //Josh+Ali

When Dani and Rob wrote us, they stated that they were having a “kick-ass wedding” and needed “equally kick-ass photographers to capture it”. I’d say they succeeded and we like to think we did too. From pink wigs to funky feathery bouquets, Dani was kind of the ideal ‘offbeat’ bride. The day was a true party, with a party bus, motorcycles, customized sunglasses, a bridesmaid that rapped for her toast, and an after-party in Capitol Hill. We also especially loved the barbie bride and groom fashioned after Dani and Rob (Dani is a teacher and this was a special gift given to her by a student). Needless to say, we know their life is going to be an awesome adventure (in fact, right now they are on a 3-week trip and recently checked in with us from Istanbul).
